Patintero
Played in a large empty space where grids can be drawn (either with chalk on pavement or by drawing on the sand), it involves one team on defense, guarding each crosswise line on the grid (and sometimes lengthwise depending on the rules). The offensive team tries to run through each line that’s guarded until they make a home run back to where they started.
Agawan Base
This exciting game has each team, literally covering their bases. The objective of each team is to run through a playing field located between each team’s posts, run across a demarcation line that separates the two teams’ areas to tag other players and “capture” them. You have to run fast when playing this game in order to tag captured teammates to save them, or to go on the offense and capture others yourself.
Sungka
The Pinoy version of a boardgame, sungka requires a board with 16 holes in it, two of which are larger than the rest at opposite ends. Played by dropping a number of shells, seeds or pebbles in each hole and collecting them, the game can be intensely long or fun and short depending on how dead set the players are in tackling the traditional board game.
