Twitter: @MMDA
One of the MMDA’s efforts to stay in touch with the city folk is through social media app, Twitter. You can pose questions to the authorities (and expect answers), check up on the traffic situation on major thoroughfares and troll through other people’s queries too. If you feel you need a direct line to the MMDA, Twitter is a good way to go.
MMDA App
An essential tool, especially for those commuting through common routes such as EDSA, C5 and the like, this app can give you a bird’s eye view on the traffic situation throughout the city. You can choose to check via a graphical representation (hot traffic jam zones are bright red), or see the progress of light to medium to heavy traffic via a line chart that takes you through each major spot along the city’s biggest streets.
Waze
An interactive and informative app, Waze guides you to your destination by finding you a route that can get you there in the least amount of time. By signing up, you are able to report any accidents, police hotspots, and other pertinent information. The app also has a social media aspect to it, which allows you to chat with fellow users. While extremely helpful and providing GPS instructions that navigate you through Metro Manila, be wary of side streets—Waze can be misleading at times and take you through more traffic-stricken areas you may not be familiar with en route to your destination.
